Our anniversary: come and gone
Last Saturday was a hell of a time, and I’d like to thank you all for coming to Cole’s and Mister Goodbar and celebrating with us. It’s always fun, bar hopping between the two neighbors: I started at Goodbar with a glass of OG Whale before heading to Cole’s for dinner and IPFrank (and Rutherford Brett Haze, and Mister Superfantastisch, and The Snow, and…)
Then it was back to Goodbar, for Heatrays and games. Dan, Eric and Andy of the Sultans of Swig took me up on my offer of playing board games. We never got around to The Resistance because Drew was just too popular and kept being called away, but we did manage to get in two games of No Thanks. I won the first, and then everyone else learned how to play.
It was a wonderful night, full of friends and beer and laughter, and I hope you were able to come and have some beer with us. It’s been two years, and we look forward to rocking your socks off in our third.
Our anniversary: almost here!
Ignore everything above: that guy’s a damn liar! Our second anniversary isn’t until the 20th!
Yes, we’ve actually got another 10 days until it’s official, but between the Craft Brewer’s Conference and some other vacations it was either have the party early or push it back until May. We do hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive us.
What does this mean? That we’ve still got some special beers available for growler fills! Admittedly, they probably won’t last until the 20th, but stop in this week and keep the party going in the privacy of your own home ((Where, it turns out, the rules for not wearing pants are much more lenient)). We’ve currently got nine of our 10 taps pouring:
Frank, The Whale, The IPA, De Maas and Stout Affective Disorder: you know the drill here. They aren’t going anywhere, although it is getting warmer, in fits and starts, and we hear that a certain Rutherford may soon be waking from his eternal sleep to claim his rightful place on tap five.
Singularity (Apollo) is all gone, at least at the brewery, but it’s been replaced by Dank Frank, a special version of our pale ale dry hopped with chinook and columbus hops to make it extra resinous.
Mr. Blofeld ((The name, incidentally, comes from the James Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. E.S.B., the beer is an ESB…)), the Extra Special Bitter we brewed with the Niagara Association of Homebrewers, the Sultans of Swig and Junkshow Brewing, is still alive and kicking!
If you couldn’t make it last Saturday, fret not! The Snow, our imperial stout, is available for growler fills. It’s a hefty 9.4% abv and pairs well with washing kegs, or probably other activities if you don’t ever find yourself washing kegs. Is that just me?
Finally, we’ve got the last of Mister Superfantastisch, our Berlinerweisse. It’s been said that we keep pulling it out of our asses for special occasions ((We actually pull it out of the cooler. Just, you know, in case the Department of Agriculture is reading this.)), but this really is the end. For now, at least: on Saturday my wife discovered it’s the first of our beers she actually likes, so ever since she’s been telling me to make sure Rudy brews more.
Thank you all again, sincerely, for having made this a wonderful two years.
